Elliott Clays' simulated game days replicate the sights, sounds, and shooting angles of a real driven shoot with extraordinary fidelity. Our mobile clay traps — capable of launching up to 200 targets per minute — simulate pheasant, grouse, partridge, and duck over the hills, glens, and woodland of the 1,500-acre Birkhill Castle Estate.

How the Day Unfolds
Breakfast & Briefing
The day begins with a hearty breakfast at the lodge. George runs through the safety briefing — whether you're a first-timer or a veteran, we make sure everyone's confident before heading out.
Into the Estate
We load up the 4x4s and head to the first drive. The estate's varied terrain — open hillside, dense woodland, river valley — means every drive feels completely different.
The Drives
Typically four to six drives across the day. Our mobile trailers simulate pheasant, grouse, partridge, and duck at heights and angles that match the real thing. 200 targets per minute means there's always plenty to shoot at.
Elevenses
A mid-morning break in the field — flask of something warming, a bite to eat, and time to compare notes on the morning's shooting before the afternoon drives.
Dinner & Debrief
The day closes back at the lodge with a proper dinner or barbecue. A dram is poured, highlights are re-lived, and the inevitable arguments about who hit what begin in earnest.
All Year Round
Unlike a live shoot, there's no closed season. We run simulated game days every month of the year — book when it suits you.

No equipment or prior experience is necessary. All guns, cartridges, and safety equipment are provided. George and his team offer tuition throughout the day for anyone who wants it.
